Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position in theoretical cosmology within the Delta Institute for Theoretical Physics. DEADLINE: 15 December 2019
Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position in theoretical cosmology within the Delta Institute for Theoretical Physics, a consortium of existing institutes for theoretical physics of the University of Amsterdam, Leiden University, and Utrecht University in the Netherlands.
The appointment will be based at the Institute for Theoretical Physics (ITP) of Utrecht University, but the successful applicant will spend part of the time at the Lorentz Institute of Leiden University, on weekly basis. The position will be embedded in the research groups of Dr. Elisa Chisari (Delta Faculty member, ITP UTrecht), Dr. Tomislav Prokopec (ITP, Utrecht University) and Dr. Alessandra Silvestri (Delta Faculty Member, Lorentz Institute, Leiden University).
The appointment is for 2 years (with a possible one year extension subject to available funding), offers a competitive salary with generous benefits. The starting date of the appointment is Sep 2020 or earlier. The successful applicant is expected to work on Dark Energy, its possible links to Early Universe Physics and synergies with large-scale structure surveys, including the Kilo-Degree Survey, LSST and ESA’s Euclid.
The cosmology group in Utrecht includes Dr. Tomislav Prokopec (inflation, phase transitions, baryogenesis, large scale structure and dark energy) and Dr. Elisa Chisari (large scale structure, gravitational lensing, galaxy surveys). The cosmology group in Leiden includes Dr. Alessandra Silvestri (dark energy), Prof. Ana Achucarro (inflation) and Dr. Alexey Boyarsky (dark matter), and has close ties with the research group of Prof. Koenraad Schalm (AdS/CFT), as well as steady collaborations with several scientists from Leiden Observatory (Prof. H. Hoekstra, Prof. K. Kujiken and Dr. Elena Maria Rossi). Both groups have strong ties with other cosmology groups in the Netherlands as well as abroad.
Applicants are expected to have a PhD degree in physics, astronomy, or related field, or to be scheduled to obtain one before the starting date of this appointment. We encourage applications from underrepresented groups in STEM.
Application material should include a curriculum vitae, a publication list, a research statement, and arrange three reference letter which ought to be sent by the referees to the same address.
Interested candidates are requested to send their applications to email@example.com as a single .pdf file before DECEMBER 15, 2019.
Late applications will be considered until the position is filled.
