Prof. Carlo Beenakker (Leiden University) will give a layman's talk on quantum mechanics.
|Date||16 October 2014|
"If quantum mechanics hasn't profoundly shocked you, you haven't understood it yet," according to Niels Bohr, one of the inventors of quantum mechanics himself.
Carlo Beenakker, professor in theoretical physics at Leiden University, top scientist and very talented educator at the same time, will take the audience on a journey through quantum wonderland. A wonderland where particles can be on two locations at the same time, where cats can be alive or death, depending on if someone is watching or not.
Photographer Marjolein Blom will show her interpretation of quantum theory, and Creative Chef Jasper Udink ten Cate promised to present a culinary interpretation of quantum mechanics.
