De Efteling has taken the top position in the MT500 2026 reputation ranking of Dutch companies, for the first time in 26 years. The annual survey is conducted by MT/Sprout in collaboration with the Amsterdam Centre for Business Innovation (ACBI) at the UvA's Amsterdam Business School.

MT500 is one of the most widely cited corporate reputation rankings in the Netherlands.

Shift from big tech to trusted Dutch brands

The 2026 results show a clear shift in corporate reputation. Traditional Dutch brands and organisations score higher than large international tech platforms. Leisure, healthcare and everyday consumer brands dominate the top of the list, while big tech companies move down.

Head researcher Henk Volberda, Professor of Strategic Management and Innovation in the Strategy & International Business section of the Amsterdam Business School, explains this shift in sentiment: 'It is telling that in these times of geopolitical uncertainty and instability a fairytale park is at the top of the ranking. Sentiment has shifted now that we also see the negative sides of big tech. Is our data still safe in their hands?'

The MT500 findings underline how proximity, trust and visible, human leadership have become central building blocks of corporate reputation. Organisations that remain close to their values and stakeholders, and that show social responsibility, are more widely admired.
