These encounters celebrate the wealth of interdisciplinary perspectives that make EU legal studies such a vibrant field and are essential to interrogating and understanding many of the global challenges the EU faces today — including questions of belonging, migration, democratic decline, social and economic integration, and the ecological and climate crisis.
Through the series, we explore side views on EU law: perspectives that approach its core questions from different vantage points, within and beyond the traditional boundaries of the discipline, opening up new ways of thinking about Europe and its legal order.
In each encounter, scholars at the forefront of contemporary EU legal debates share their work and ideas in conversation with ACELG faculty, students, and the broader UvA and Amsterdam research community.
