ACLC welcomes Yaël van Dansik. Yaël completed a Bachelor’s degree in Dutch Language and Culture (University of Amsterdam), followed by a Master’s degree Neerlandistiek (University of Amsterdam) and a Master’s degree in Education. Alongside her studies, she has always worked as a Dutch teacher at a secondary school.

Through the NWO Promotiebeurs voor Leraren, she will be able to combine teaching at a high school with PhD research in linguistics over the coming years. In her PhD research, she will investigate language variation in formal contexts amongst Dutch secondary school pupils, focusing on the influence of multilingualism, drawing on both English and other second languages. The aim of the research is to gain a deeper understanding of language variation among young people in formal contexts and to provide teachers with practical insights into their students' grammar, which can be incorporated into teaching materials on Dutch grammar, language variation and multilingualism.
