The academic year is already in full swing and we’re glad everyone is finding their way to the University Quarter and the Faculty of Humanities buildings. That also means we’re seeing more and more bikes in the area, sometimes parked where they shouldn’t be — by residential entrances or right in the middle of the pavement. This creates cluttered and unsafe situations and causes inconvenience for fellow students, colleagues and neighbours.

Help keep the University Quarter and the neighbourhood accessible and pleasant: please park your bike in the indoor cycle parking facilities. They’re covered and often easier to reach than you think. All facilities are accessible with your student or staff card.

You’ll find the following cycle parking on the University Quarter site:

  • BG3 (Binnengasthuisstraat 9): indoor cycle parking
  • Bushuis/Oost-Indisch Huis (Kloveniersburgwal 48): indoor cycle parking and uncovered racks along the canal

University Library

(Vendelstraat 2–8): large indoor cycle parking:

More information about cycle parking at the UvA and in the city centre is available on the Bike Parking webpage.

The UvA also has a number of dedicated staff cycle parking facilities; see the Staff Bike Parking webpage.
