As the use of multiple biological control agents against insect pests becomes increasingly common, it is essential to determine the interaction effects between frequently used microbial biological control agents. This project examines the interaction between a baculovirus and a fungus that are used as control agents against the global insect pest Spodoptera frugiperda. In addition, we will investigate how their effectiveness can be improved and resistance development minimized. By combining expertise in insect viruses with expertise in the ecology and evolution of this insect pest, we will develop and validate directly applicable strategies when using multiple biological control agents.
