There are several types of Getty Scholarships. Shahidzadeh was elected to be a Guest Scholar in the Getty Conservation Institute - these scholars will pursue projects related to the cultural heritage conservation field. Shahidzadeh's research area is multiscale studies of material dynamics driven by liquid flow and the transport of ions and additives in porous media, linking fundamental processes to applications such as the preservation of cultural heritage. The project she will carry out is called Multimineral Salt Crystallization in Cultural Heritage: From Fundamental Mechanisms to Conservation Practice.
