"I'm happy to see that our efforts to stimulate collaborations are recognized in this index”, says Prof. Bas de Bruin. He is the scientific director of the Van ’t Hoff Institute for Molecular Sciences, which is at the very heart of UvA’s chemistry research. With a total of 509 joint works and 274 collaborating institutions across 40 partner countries, chemistry research at UvA is truly collaborative, De Bruin points out."

The Research Collaboration Index is compiled from open research data, focusing on six aspects of research collaboration including sustained partnership, network influence and international intensity. Ranking at place 28, the University of Amsterdam as a whole receives ‘platinum standing’ in the Index, leading the cohort of Dutch universities. Particularly the UvA Arts & Humanities and Social Sciences score highly in terms of collaboration, ranking second and third worldwide within their respective disciplines.
